Using the block list and watch list
The block list is your memory of who has caused problems before. menta watches for those names in live resale activity and can hold a payout before the money leaves — so a known bad actor doesn't get paid twice.
The short version#
This is a simple partnership against fraud in the resale market. You keep a list of people who've defrauded you before; menta keeps an eye out for them — and for anyone who looks suspiciously related — in everything that's selling right now. When there's a match and money is still on its way out, menta can stop it. The whole thing only works as well as the information you put in, so accurate, up-to-date lists are everything.
Who does what#
- You run the block list. It's managed exclusively by your organization — menta never adds or removes people on its own.
- menta stays out of the conversation. We never contact users about fraud-related matters. That contact, if any, is yours.
- Payouts stop only for cause. A payout is held in just two situations: confirmed fraud, or because you added someone to the block list.
- A full starting list is the whole game. The more complete your initial list, the more the system catches from the start.
How it works, step by step#
The process leans on two things: the information you provide, and the activity happening in the resale market. Each step adds a layer of protection.
Put all your historical confirmed-fraud cases on the block list, with the identifying details you have (email, ID document, phone, banking info), and let us know you've updated it so the preventive mechanisms switch on.
The system continuously compares the block list against active listings and ongoing sales. If someone on the list has a payout still pending, it's held preventively. A heads-up: payouts that already settled can't be clawed back, which is exactly why a complete list on day one matters so much.
Beyond exact names, the system spots matches with the block list across IDs, bank accounts, and phone numbers — the telltale signs of the same person under a new account. These are surfaced as potential risks, and you decide whether to add them or keep them under observation on the watch list.
If someone disputes a held payout, the Partner asks them to verify their identity per its own policy. If the verification checks out, the Partner asks menta to remove the user from the block list and release the payout. If it doesn't, the user stays blocked and the payout stays held.
Add new confirmed-fraud cases the moment you have them. Every day a case sits unrecorded is a day a bad payout could slip through.
Good to know#
- The market needs to be active. Recent resale activity is what gives the system something to match against — without it, there are no connections to find.
- No matches is a normal result. Finding nothing isn't a failure. Often it just means there's nothing to find, and that's good news.
- Recovery depends on the buyer keeping the tickets. For a held payout to actually be recovered, the buyer has to still hold the purchased tickets.
How it touches settlements#
When a payout is held or recovered, it shows up in your settlements according to the commercial agreements already in place. The date the payout was held is what decides which settlement period it lands in. Releasing a payout that already settled is possible, but it takes coordination between both sides. For visibility into all of this — held payouts, sales history, related activity — the Control Station is where you look; it's also where you'll pull the evidence to back a chargeback dispute.
When to tell us#
A quick note keeps everything in sync. Let us know whenever you:
- Add a new case to the block list.
- Promote someone from the watch list to the block list.
- Remove a user from the block list after a successful verification.
In one paragraph#
You own the block list: you decide who's on it, weigh the suspicious cases, validate claims, and keep it current. menta does the watching: it spots the operational risks, holds payouts when there's cause, and gives you the visibility through the Control Station to see and act on it. Together that's fewer losses, tighter controls, and a safer resale market.
