General Rules

The settings that define how the resale market behaves for a rule set: what people can do, at what price, until when, and what extras are on.

The short version: a rule set has two tabs — General Rules, where you set how the market behaves, and Automations, where those rules can change on their own. This article is about the first one. Its settings are grouped into four blocks: Availability, Pricing & marketplace, Time, and Notifications & advanced.

What the General Rules tab is#

When you open a rule set, General Rules is the tab you land on. It's the foundation everything else sits on, organized top to bottom into four blocks: who can do what (Availability), the money side (Pricing & marketplace), when the market closes (Time), and the extra features fans see (Notifications & advanced).

02

Availability#

SettingWhat it does
Enable listingAllows users to list tickets for sale in the resale market.
Enable purchasesAllows users to purchase tickets in the resale market.
i
Together these cover the usual states: market fully open (both on), listing only — sellers can post but no one can buy yet (listing on, purchases off), or market closed (both off).
03

Pricing & marketplace#

SettingWhat it does
Minimum priceThe lowest a listing can sell for. Usually set to the ticket's original price.
Maximum priceThe highest a listing can sell for — either no limit, or a cap relative to the original price.
Max tickets per userHow many tickets a single user can buy or list. Can be left with no limit.
Dynamic pricingLets sellers choose dynamic pricing during the listing flow, instead of a fixed price.
Buyer feeAdded on top of the listing price to set the buyer's total.
Seller feeAdded on top of the seller's payout to set the listing price.
!
The capped maximum price — a ceiling relative to the original — is your tool for staying inside local regulations or a promoter's commercial strategy. It's there precisely so resale never runs past what's allowed.
04

Time#

SettingWhat it does
Resale marketplace cutoffHow many hours before the event the resale market closes.

Choosing this well is a topic on its own — when to close depends on the type of event, the audience, and the logistics. See when to close the resale market for the full picture.

05

Notifications & advanced#

SettingWhat it does
Buyer alertsLets users create price alerts for tickets they want.
Deal scoreDisplays a 1–10 deal score on offers based on demand.
Express listingSellers can list instantly and complete their payout details later.

Each of these has its own article: Buyer alerts (NotifyMe Buyers), Deal Score, and Express Listing.

06

The lightning icon#

Next to each setting you'll spot a small lightning icon. It means that setting doesn't have to stay fixed — an automation can change it on its own. Think releasing the maximum price on the final day, or nudging a fee up when demand spikes. You set the starting point here by hand; automations take it from there, in the second tab of the rule set.
