Automations

Set rules that run the resale market for you: 'when this happens, do that' — automatically, in real time.

An automation is a simple "if this, then that" rule for your events and ticket categories. You set a condition; when it's met, menta tech adjusts the resale market for you — no one has to be watching the dashboard at 2 a.m.

Why it exists#

Resale moves on its own clock. Demand spikes the week of the show, supply shows up at the last minute, and prices shift as the date gets closer. Reacting to all of that by hand — opening the Control Station and changing settings event by event — doesn't scale, and the right moment to act is often the middle of the night.

Automations let you decide the reactions ahead of time. You describe the situation and the response once, and the system handles it whenever it happens.

02

How it works#

Every automation has two parts:

1
A trigger — the 'if'

One or more conditions, combined with AND/OR (for example: demand is high, or there are fewer than 48 hours to the event).

2
An action — the 'then'

What menta tech does to the event's rules when the trigger is met.

Automations sit on top of the rules you've already set per event. When the condition is met, the action fires on its own.

03

What an automation can do#

  • Open or close listing and purchase. Turn the ability to list tickets and the ability to buy them on or off.
  • Adjust price limits. Raise, lower, or release the minimum and maximum resale prices.
  • Change fees. Modify the service fees applied to the event.
  • Other rule changes. Other adjustments to the event's ruleset.
04

Templates#

You can build an automation from scratch, or start from a ready-made template grouped by category (Popular, Availability, Pricing & market, Time, Extra). A few common ones:

  • Extend resale on high demand. If an event is in high demand, keep the resale market open longer.
  • Open purchase as the event nears. Turn on buying a set number of days before the event date.
  • Open purchase once there's enough supply. Wait until there's enough published inventory before letting fans buy.
  • Block resale of complimentary tickets. Disable listing and purchase on complimentary or invitation categories so they can't be resold.
  • Release prices on the last day. Drop the minimum and maximum price limits on the final day to speed up last-minute sales.
05

Keep in mind#

!
Automations work alongside the rules you've already set per event — they add to them, they don't replace them. Before turning one on, make sure its conditions don't clash with a rule you've already configured, so the two aren't pulling in opposite directions.

Automations act on the rules you define per event. See how those rules work in Getting started with the dashboard.
